Sadly, this week was a less productive week. I went ahead and brainstormed potential thumbnails for recording. I thought about walking around campus and trying to find different locations such as brick wall, concrete, and the trails.

I continued to play around with the clay cutters I printed. However, there were a lot of issues with the plasticity of the clay. I noticed that when I don’t wedge the clay, it makes it so much harder to take out the clay letter in one piece. So, wedging is a definite must from now on. And although I was able to make successful cuts last week, I am still debating on whether I need to create a piece that fits inside of each letter clay cutter so that it can come out quicker. This might be a personal patience issue, but it doesn’t quite make sense to have a slab rolled out, let it dry, then cut out the letters but still carefully remove the clay from the cutters.

I do feel like I am missing that one little bit to have a smooth process with these clay cutters, but I am afraid of printing again. Only because in my past experiences with 3-D printing I’ve never had to be so detail oriented and specific with measurements, shapes, and angles. With all my designs saved, it shouldn’t be too difficult (maybe).
